Emily Ertle is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing guitar and singing since age seven and teaching guitar for three years. Her musical influences are 1960’s/70’s folk music, indie-folk and various sub-genres of funk, both old and new. She is currently a member of the band Division of Space with friends Olias Bendian and William Stewart. One of her favorite things about living in Ridgewood is the presence of so many talented singers and musicians. She has performed regularly at many local public and private events including The Ridgewood Friends of Music Annual Concert, Ridgewood Unplugged, Michael Feeney’s Best Day Ever, Access Ridgewood and The Ridgewood Music Festival. She mostly enjoys playing on the streets of town for the Ridgewood Guild’s Music in the Night. Emily has had the opportunity to arrange music for smaller jazz ensembles and has performed at Montclair State University, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola and the Montclair Jazz Festival with Jazz House Kids. She has previously been selected to two NJAJE Junior Jazz Ensembles and a Rutgers Summer Jazz Institute Honors Band. Emily was recently chosen for a yearlong position in the Lincoln Center High School Jazz Academy Big Band. In the future, Emily hopes to study Neurology and minor in Jazz Studies. She has recently begun writing her own songs and is excited to debut some of them at Society Café.
