As President Mary Mogerley said at the Feb. 23 Town Hall, the Board wants “to be transparent and encourage open discussion concerning USR’s finances and future.”
We invite all members of the USR community to observe tonight’s Board meeting at 7 PM on Zoom (here), because there’s a lot going on right now! The Board is going to receive recommendations from our study teams on the next steps in reinventing our future.
We’ve already heard from the Real Estate Team (Jan Botcher, Paul Smolin, Jeff Summerville, & Maria Geiselhart), and the Planned Giving Committee (Jan Botcher, Frank Loscalzo, Ira Mendelsberg, Ed Collins, & Don Campolo).
Tomorrow night we’ll be hearing from:
- Ira Mendelsberg with a report on the Endowment.
- The Bylaws Team (Frank Loscalzo, Ira Mendelsberg and Chuck Dye) with an update on proposed amendments.
- Rebecca Bellin, reporting on the needs of the Religious Education program and the volunteer team who are staffing it right now.
- Charlie Walter, on his work on Membership & Marketing. As he said in the Feb. 23 Town Hall, before we can have a membership drive, “The congregation needs to be highly involved in saying, ‘Who are we?…What do we really represent to ourselves and to the community? And how do we want to market that?'”
- The Part-Time Ministry team (Erin Mickelwaite, Mike Patterson, Libby Ortiz, Laura Krag, Hetty Hirshman, & Steve Riskind) with their views on the pros and cons of a part-time ministry option.
While observers won’t be unmuting yourselves, it’s a very good way to learn what’s ahead for the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, and perhaps provide feedback to us afterward as we formulate a plan for congregational action at the June annual meeting.
Sincerely, the Board of Trustees
Liz Kempey (acting-President), Mary Mogerley, Jan Bottcher, Lynn Gligor, Hetty Hirshman, Maria Geiselhart, & Jackie Nadler
