Friends, after careful consideration of the increasing numbers, and the danger that COVID-19 continues to present, the Safe Congregation Response, Team with the Board of Trustees’ support, has determined that The Unitarian Society of Ridgewood will remain virtual through March 31, 2021.
We will evaluate this decision again in late February, always looking to ensure the health, safety, and spiritual wellbeing of the congregation. It is a delicate balance: we recognize our need for looking each other in the eyes and for feeling the excitement and energy of human meeting, but we also recognize the absolute imperative to keep each other physically healthy. We will continue to attempt to thread this particular needle, and we are grateful for your support and patience and commitment.
These times are challenging for us all. Our needs are varied, our capacity to volunteer is varied, our risk tolerance is varied. My hope is that we as a congregation will continue to support and connect in all the ways we can. Please continue to reach out to each other and to me and all the other leaders of the congregation.
This year will have been marked by grief, change, and strangenesses beyond our imagining. When we finally reach The Time After, and we can be together again, things will be different than The Time Before. But what will not be different is our commitment to each other and our desire to journey together toward Beloved Community and deeper understanding. When we meet again, we will have losses to mourn, joys to celebrate, and so much catching up to do.
I miss you and our time together, and I’m grateful for all the ways we have stayed connected. As the winter deepens, please do try and join us for all the activities that USR is hosting. We’ll look for you there!
With determination, love, and hope,
Rev. Sarah
